There are just so many historical places here in Nicosia, (Remember this that Nicosia (known popularly here by the name Lefkosa) is the capital of the Northern Cyprus island). The first place to be seen here in Nicosia would be Bedesten which is said to be constructed in the twelfth century. It was initially a Byzantine church (to be more precise, St. Nicholas Church), but changes were made by Lusignans. It should be said here that this historical monuments speak of the wonder of the island in a clear manner.
Other historical attractions may include Nicosia City Walls, The Great Inn, Venetian Column and Ataturk Square etc. You can visit some of the oldest mosques here such as Turunclu Mosque, Haydarpasa Mosque, The Arab Ahmet Mosque etc. The Dervis Pasa Mansion is also a great place to visit.
